A Christmas Tree for 2006

The Parish Council has joined forces with St. Helen’s Parochial Church Council to provide a Christmas tree and lights in Churchtown this year. It is to be situated by the entrance gate. The switch-on will take place on Sunday 3rd December, following a torchlight procession, which will commence from The Pickerings Hotel, Catterall at 6.30pm. If you wish to just attend the switch-on the procession should reach Churchtown about 7.00pm. A collection will be taken on the night.

Kirkland and Catterall St. Helen's Primary School

24 new reception children walked proudly through the doors this September. There is a lovely buzz around our school with children working. Smiling, learning and sharing together. Why not come and join us for our class assemblies on Friday 3rd Nov or 10th at 2.30pm in the school hall?

This weekend some parents began to build us a beautiful new garden with stepping stones, a dry pond and a curvy sharing bench. We are growing vegetables in the old reception sink too! Next weekend years 5&6 are going to Waterpark in Coniston for canoeing, team games, indoor mountain wall climbing and sheer fun.

We will be partaking in football and skittleball tournaments in the next few weeks.

Our school works with all the local schools in a learning network. Our new research project is about creative thinking skills in Science.

Jelly Beans Nursery (within Kirkland & Catterall St Helen’s School)

If your child is aged between 2 & 4 we may have spaces to offer (subject to availability) Jelly Beans offers fun, stimulating educational activities in an attractive and welcoming setting. For more information call Lisa Makinson
