KIRKLAND PARISH COUNCIL NEWSLETTER November 2005 Issue 2 NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH IN CHURCHTOWN Neighbourhood Watch is one of the most successful crime prevention initiatives ever. Behind it lies a simple idea, and a central value shared by millions of people around the country. Getting together with your neighbours to take action can cut local crime, help and reassure those who live in fear of crime and encourage closer communities. Neighbourhood Watch is looking for some helpers for Churchtown. Firstly an overall co-ordinator to attend the three or so meetings held each year at the Golf Club in Bowgreave. Secondly one person from each street/area to give information and keep their neighbours aware of the measures they can take to protect their home and the Village in which they live. Enclosed is a booklet issued by Neighbourhood Watch giving full information about the scheme. A few residents are all that is needed to cover Churchtown. If you can help set up the scheme in the Village please contact either the Clerk to the Parish Council or any of the Parish Councillors listed on the back page. = DOG FOULING IN THE VILLAGE Did you know that it is an offence? For any person in charge of a dog to allow the dog to foul the footway of any highway or any public place or a grass verge adjacent to the road. To allow a dog to be on the road unless that dog is on a lead and under proper control. To allow dogs to foul on the grounds of the local School and Church. For a dog to be in a public place and not wearing a collar and tag giving the name and address of the owner. Thank you to the responsible owners who wrap their dog’s pooh in plastic bags and take it home. Unfortunately some of these bags are also deposited under the nearest hedge and The Avenue is suffering because of this. Wyre Borough Council is reluctant to install any dog bins in the Village as they believe, due to the lack of reports, that there is no problem. The Councillors would ask residents who see this problem to call Wyre Borough Council on 01253 891000 and tell them.
